[Kid!Sasuke x kid!reader]

It was a morning like any other; the sun glowed high up and the breeze blew softly. Konoha had long ago awakened, and the streets were overflowed by its villagers. There was permanent, joyful atmosphere surrounding the big city. The dark times were long gone, and the figure of Minato Namikaze remained as a statue made of stone above them, constantly watching over the people he had saved some years back.

There, within the area belonging to one of the most powerful families, a couple of kids seemed to be playing. However, when looked closely, it was obvious only one of them was actually having fun.

You grinned mischievously at Sasuke, whose face was adorned with the tinniest of the pouts. You found it cute; how the boy got frustrated so easily, that’s it. You two had been trying to show off what you had been learning at the Academy – which wasn’t much considering the age you had. Nevertheless, Sasuke had finally gotten annoyed by the fact that you, surprisingly, had managed to win last round. It seemed your memory was better than his and you could remember the names of all of the allied lands.

“This one will be the final one!” you proclaimed while crossing your arms over your chest. “It’s about walking over water!”

Sasuke furrowed his eyebrows at that and tried to complain; neither of you two had been taught about chakra control at the Academy.

“I know, I know. But I saw your brother doing it on my way home yesterday, and thought it was pretty cool,” you explained before running over to the platform.

The lake was clear blue that morning, attracting the rays of the sun to its surface.

“But, [Name],” Sasuke exclaimed as he ran after you. “You don’t know how to swim!”

“Du-uh." You glanced at him as if he were stupid. “That doesn’t matter; I’ll walk on it so no worries, dummy.”

And just like that, you threw yourself to the crystalline lake. Threw, of course. Because you definitely didn’t stand over it as you pretended.

Uh?

Confusion spread across your face the moment you found yourself facing the watery sun. You tried to scream for help, only for water to invade your mouth and lungs. You couldn’t breathe. Slowly, your eyes fluttered close as your body began to go numb.

You were drowning.

A sound reached your ears before you felt yourself being moved. Some seconds later, you were lying on the wooden platform. However, even though you could feel the air hitting your face, you still could not breathe.

Upon realizing that, Sasuke did what he had been told to do in that kind of situations.

The moment you felt something soft pressed against your wet lips, your eyes widened so much they could have rolled out their cages. Quickly, you pushed Sasuke away and sat up.

“Wh-what are you doing?!”

The poor boy was blushing madly, as you knew you were. However, he managed to keep his cool and looked away from you.

“You’re welcome.”

Upon hearing that, a smile touched your face. You placed a chaste kiss on his flushed cheek, before jumping to your feet.

“From now on, I name you 'savior of Konoha's best kunoichi',” you stated, before a knowing smirk spread across your lips. “But just so you know, when someone is drowning and can’t breathe you’re supposed to do the mouth-to-mouth thing; blowing air into their lungs and stuff… not to kiss them.”

You never thought Sasuke Uchiha could get so easily flustered.

But you smiled nonetheless.

After all, he was your savior.
